PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING AND RECOGNIZING THE WESTCHESTER FOOD PANTRY FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO FEEDING HUNGRY FAMILIES
WHEREAS, there are many families living in Cook County who lack access to food and fresh fruits and vegetables, and;
WHEREAS, the Westchester Food Pantry is providing food security to families living in Bellwood, Berkeley, Broadview, Hillside, La Grange Park, Westchester and Western Springs, and;
WHEREAS, the Westchester Food Pantry has been in existence for over twenty years and currently serves over 200 families each month, and;
WHEREAS, under the leadership of co-directors Amanda Grant and Kathleen Franzwa, the Westchester Food Pantry has joined forces with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and formed partnerships with Imperfect Produce, Panera Bread and local garden groups, and;
WHEREAS, the Westchester Food Pantry is completely driven by volunteers who are dedicated to feeding hungry families, and;
WHEREAS, the Westchester Food Pantry has emerged as the fastest-growing food pantry in the western suburbs, and;
WHEREAS, the Westchester Food Pantry and their Board of Directors are doing an impeccable job of serving an important part of our population in Cook County - those who are need of food.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that the Westchester Food Pantry is honored and recognized for their commitment to meet the needs of hungry families in Cook County.
