PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING PETER SCHWABE FOR ATTAINING THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT
WHEREAS, The Cook County Board of Commissioners is pleased to recognize outstanding achievement and dedication; and
WHEREAS, In August 1911, The Boy Scouts of America established the rank of Eagle Scout which is the highest title that can be attained by a Boy Scout; and
WHEREAS, In order to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must first earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate Scout Spirit through community service and leadership, including an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads and manages; and
WHEREAS, Peter Schwabe of La Grange Park, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 66 of La Grange Park where Peter has earned over 30 merit badges. Peter has also participated as an instructor for three years in the National Youth Leadership Training program, teaching younger Scouts confidence and leadership skills. He has performed over 250 hours in service to others in the community and in food drives over the years; and
WHEREAS, Peter currently serves as Troop 66's Senior Patrol Leader, the highest position of leadership for a Scout. Peter is also a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and has earned the World Conservation Award; and
WHEREAS, For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Peter led his fellow Scouts in making 1000 United States pocket flags that included notes of encouragement and well wishes. These flags were then provided to Father Matt Foley of the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The flags were then forwarded to the service men and women in the Unit on deployment overseas so they can be worn inside their uniforms as a reminder that they are being constantly thought of by others back home; and
WHEREAS, Peter's commitment extends beyond Boy Scouts and into his education where he has consistently achieved Honor Roll status at Lyons Township High School and as a member of the school's ...
