Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF LILLY JOHNSON WHEREAS, almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Lilly Johnson from our midst on January 8, 2016; and WHEREAS, Lilly was a devoted and loving daughter to her mom, Lillie Johnson, all the days of her life; and WHEREAS, Lilly loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, body and soul and served as a faithful member of Living Word Christian Center; and WHEREAS, Lilly was a long time employee of Cook County Government, serving the people of Cook County for more than 20 years in the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer; and WHEREAS, Lilly volunteered countless hours for community events, causes and issues that she trusted and believed in; and WHEREAS, Lilly was a stoic and relentless Union Steward for her sisters and brothers of SEIU Local 73 for many years; and WHEREAS, Lilly's word meant everything to her, she said what "she meant" and "meant what she said"; and WHEREAS, Lilly's voice could be h...

HONORING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF LILLY JOHNSON

 

WHEREAS, almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Lilly Johnson from our midst on January 8, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lilly was a devoted and loving daughter to her mom, Lillie Johnson, all the days of her life; and

WHEREAS, Lilly loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, body and soul and served as a faithful member of Living Word Christian Center; and

WHEREAS, Lilly was a long time employee of Cook County Government, serving the people of Cook County for more than 20 years in the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer; and

WHEREAS, Lilly volunteered countless hours for community events, causes and issues that she trusted and believed in; and

WHEREAS, Lilly was a stoic and relentless Union Steward for her sisters and brothers of SEIU Local 73 for many years; and

WHEREAS, Lilly’s word meant everything to her, she said what “she meant” and “meant what she said”; and

WHEREAS, Lilly’s voice could be heard advocating for the “least of these” as she gave of herself with, time, money and effort; and

WHEREAS, Lilly lived a life that touched the hearts of many through word, thought and deed; and

WHEREAS, Lilly left a legacy for all who know her, to follow in her footsteps of integrity, compassion, love, straightforwardness and service to others; and

WHEREAS, Lilly leaves to cherish her memory her beautiful Mother, Lillie Johnson, and a host of cousins, friends, church family and co-workers in the Cook County Office of the Chief Procurement Officer;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby extend their condolences to the family of Lilly Johnson on the occasion of her passing and their deep appreciation for her many contributions to her community and to Cook County.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of the same be tendered to the family of Lilly Johnson.
