PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE 90th BIRTHDAY OF NOEL B. CUMMINGS
WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are proud to congratulate Noel B. Cummings, Village of Hodgkins President, on the occasion and celebration of his 90th birthday on October 19, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings was born in Burnsville, Mississippi, on October 19, 1927 and attended Pumpkin Center grade school and high school in Burnsville, Mississippi and North Eastern Mississippi Junior College; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings married the late Nelda Benick Cummings on August 25, 1945, and had two children together, their son Daniel and daughter Sherry; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1945 to 1947 stationed in Germany; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings retired from the International Harvester Company where he was employed for twenty-eight years as a supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings has been a resident of Hodgkins for the past 48 years, where he served as Village Trustee from 1975 to 1979; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings was elected Village President in 1980 and continues to serve in that position as a devoted public servant and member of the community; and
WHEREAS, Noel B. Cummings has had numerous accomplishments throughout his tenure as President, such as creating the McCook-Hodgkins Enterprise Zone in 1985, annexation of 250 acres of unincorporated land resulting in the United Parcel Service creating a hub for jobs to the area, and creating a TIF district for the creation of the Quarry Shopping Center, among numerous other endeavors; and
WHEREAS, we commend Noel B. Cummings on achieving a long and fulfilling life and enriching the lives of everyone in his community, and we wish him continued happiness and good health in the future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners extends our congratulations and best wishes to Noel B. Cummings on...
