Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 19, 2015 AS STEM CAREER ACCELERATOR DAY WHEREAS, There is a critical need in the United States to instill in the minds of students the possibilities unleashed by education and innovation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and providing students, their teachers, and their parents with deep exposure to and a sustainable experience with companies and organizations that provide career paths in these specialized fields; and WHEREAS, PepsiCo is partnering with STEMconnector and other companies and organizations across the United States, including NASA and Teach for America, to address the need for encouraging youth to pursue STEM degrees and careers; and WHEREAS, as a strong supporter of STEM education, PepsiCo will host students, teachers, and parents in October of 2015 at its facility to provide career visibility, honor teachers, share insights into a real business environment, provide learning abou...

RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 19, 2015 AS STEM CAREER ACCELERATOR DAY

 

WHEREAS, There is a critical need in the United States to instill in the minds of students the possibilities unleashed by education and innovation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and providing students, their teachers, and their parents with deep exposure to and a sustainable experience with companies and organizations that provide career paths in these specialized fields; and

 

WHEREAS, PepsiCo is partnering with STEMconnector and other companies and organizations across the United States, including NASA and Teach for America, to address the need for encouraging youth to pursue STEM degrees and careers; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County does hereby recognize the date of October 19, 2015 as STEM Career Accelerator Day and commend the students who will participate in the program at PepsiCo’s Barrington research facility.
