PROPOSED RESOLUTION
IN RECOGNITION OF ELIZABETH REIDY’S SERVICE TO COOK COUNTY
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Reidy, General Counsel to the Cook County Health and Hospitals System retired on November 30th, and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Reidy’s career at Cook County spans nearly 30 years, consisting of legal guidance, counsel, and service to Cook County Government and the people that it serves, and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Reidy joined the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in 1987 as an Assistant State’s Attorney and then joined the State’s Attorney’s hospital unit in 1988; and
WHEREAS, while at the State’s Attorney’s Office, Elizabeth Reidy provided the health system with effective legal counsel on important issues like the development of the replacement facility for the old Cook County Hospital, revisions to the medical staff bylaws, and various other intergovernmental agreements; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Reidy joined the Cook County Health & Hospitals System as its first General Counsel in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Reidy was instrumental in helping to secure the 1115 Waiver that created CountyCare, the advancement of the employment plan, and the development of the System’s academic master affiliation agreements, and
WHEREAS, during her time with the health system, Elizabeth Reidy has earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues for her institutional knowledge, legal acumen, and many lasting relationships, and
WHEREAS, the President and members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners thank Elizabeth Reidy for her service to Cook County and wish her luck on her next chapter in life;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Board of Commissioners of Cook County, does hereby gratefully acknowledge Elizabeth Reidy for her remarkable service, leadership, and steadfast commitment to the mission of the Cook County Health & Hospitals System and the people the health system serves.
