PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING TRIBHANG
WHEREAS, Tribhang was formed by two courageous women, Shiwali Varshney and Sonali Sinha Srivastava, who understood the power of dance, arts and creative expression in encouraging broader understanding of human rights and women’s rights issues; and
WHEREAS, Tribhang has hosted numerous successful, powerful and innovative dance performances bringing human rights and women’s rights issues to new audiences of Cook County residents; and
WHEREAS, Tribhang has raised funds to support the critical work of Cook County charities which serve vulnerable populations; and
WHEREAS, Tribhang has raised awareness on numerous critical issues including human trafficking, challenges facing immigrant communities, gender discrimination and homelessness; and
WHEREAS, Tribhang is helping inspire a new generation of artists and activists to get involved in their community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, recognize Tribhang for its essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceeding of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to Tribhang.
