Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE COOK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HONORING WOMEN EMPLOYED FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT TO FIGHTING FOR EQUALITY. WHEREAS, Women Employed was founded in 1973; and, WHEREAS, Women Employed's vision is to see that: all women are treated fairly in the workplace, are able to attain the skills they need for the jobs they want, and are represented for the work they do; and, WHEREAS, Women Employed has fought for four decades to open doors, break down barriers, and create fair workplaces for women; and, WHEREAS, Women Employed has mobilized to expand educational employment opportunities for America's working women; and, WHEREAS, Women Employed wrote and published in the 1980's a first-ever set of recommendations for corporate policies to promote a balance between the family and the work place for working mothers; and, WHEREAS, Women Employed is proudly an organization that has pressured the Federal Government to enforce equal opportunity l...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE COOK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HONORING WOMEN EMPLOYED FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT TO FIGHTING FOR EQUALITY.

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed was founded in 1973; and,

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed’s vision is to see that: all women are treated fairly in the workplace, are able to attain the skills they need for the jobs they want, and are represented for the work they do; and,

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed has fought for four decades to open doors, break down barriers, and create fair workplaces for women; and,

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed has mobilized to expand educational employment opportunities for America’s working women; and,

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed wrote and published in the 1980’s a first-ever set of recommendations for corporate policies to promote a balance between the family and the work place for working mothers; and,

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed is proudly an organization that has pressured the Federal Government to enforce equal opportunity laws, fought to outlaw sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination; and,

 

WHEREAS, Women Employed is responsible for influencing major changes in public policies in workplace practices and enabling women to achieve their aspirations; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners that the work of Women Employed is honored.
