Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RUTH M. ROTHSTEIN CORE CENTER WHEREAS in 1998, the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center was established as a partnership between the Cook County Health and Hospital System and RUSH University Medical Center as a clinic in Chicago for the prevention, care and research of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases; and WHEREAS the mission of the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center is to provide the highest quality care for persons and families affected by infectious diseases, with respect, dignity and compassion, without regard to the ability to pay; to ensure a patient-centered and consumer-guided environment; and to seek to better understand and to prevent these diseases through education and research; and WHEREAS the Ruth M. HONORING THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RUTH M. ROTHSTEIN CORE CENTER

WHEREAS in 1998, the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center was established as a partnership between the Cook County Health and Hospital System and RUSH University Medical Center as a clinic in Chicago for the prevention, care and research of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases; and

WHEREAS the mission of the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center is to provide the highest quality care for persons and families affected by infectious diseases, with respect, dignity and compassion, without regard to the ability to pay; to ensure a patient-centered and consumer-guided environment; and to seek to better understand and to prevent these diseases through education and research; and

WHEREAS the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center uses a "one stop shopping" model to offer patients all the services they need under one roof including primary and specialty medical care, dental care and social and support services; and

WHEREAS the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center offers an onsite screening clinic that provides confidential testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and confidential counseling and testing for HIV; and

WHEREAS the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center implemented Project Connect in 2012, a transitional care coordination program to help stabilize the health status of HIV patients who are newly diagnosed; and

WHEREAS the staff at the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center has received funding and collaborated with the Chicago Community Trust, Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, Chicago Department of Public Health, Gilead's HIV Focus, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Grant Healthcare Foundation, Michael Reese Health Trust and the Polk Brothers Foundation; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Cook County does hereby applaud the staff at the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center for providing 20 years of quality health care services to people living with HIV/...
