Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING RICH TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 227 SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL TEAM & GIRLS BOWLING TEAM WHEREAS, The Rich Township High School District 227 Special Olympics Basketball Team took home the gold on January 24, 2022; and WHEREAS, due to the pandemic in 2020 they were unable to compete, but now the Raptors Special Olympics Basketball Team has won their division title; and WHEREAS, Special Olympics Basketball Team Head Coach Kathleen Guitierrez said, " Two years ago, our 'OlyRockStars' basketball team was headed to state for basketball, but the pandemic stripped them of this glory", adding, "Two years later they were able to begin their basketball season and the Raptors Special Olympics basketball team took home the Gold winning their division title again. PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HONORING RICH TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 227 SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL TEAM & GIRLS BOWLING TEAM

 

WHEREAS, The Rich Township High School District 227 Special Olympics Basketball Team took home the gold on January 24, 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the pandemic in 2020 they were unable to compete, but now the Raptors Special Olympics Basketball Team has won their division title; and

 

WHEREAS, Special Olympics Basketball Team Head Coach Kathleen Guitierrez said, " Two years ago, our 'OlyRockStars' basketball team was headed to state for basketball, but the pandemic stripped them of this glory”, adding, “Two years later they were able to begin their basketball season and the Raptors Special Olympics basketball team took home the Gold winning their division title again. WHEREAS, the Rich Township High School District 227 Girls Bowling team won the Southland Athletic Conference championship on Thursday, January 27th; and

 

WHEREAS, this marks the first championship in Girls Bowling history for the Rich Township Raptors; and

 

WHEREAS, "Overall it was a great experience for our lady bowlers this year. They really did a great job in reaching their goal of winning the conference championship," said Head Coach Stacie Wolf. "These were some of the highest average scores I have seen in my career as a coach in Rich Township. I couldn't be prouder of the ladies' accomplishments."; and

 

WHEREAS, along with the team championship, Rich Township also had four top ten finishers, naming them to the All-Conference Team; Trinity Cook, Dazani Holmes, Catelyn Eison, and Tajah Matthews; and

 

WHEREAS, the Rich Township Girls Bowling team ended their regular season with a 7-1 record and will be competing at the IHSA Regional competition Saturday, February 5th at Orland Bowl;

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate the Rich Township High School District 227 Special Olympics Basketball Team & Girls Bowling Team on their success and highlight that Superintendent Johnnie Thomas and all of the faculty and staff of RTHS District 227 are also very proud and cheering on the team; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and a suitable copy be presented to the Rich Township High School District 227 Special Olympics Basketball Team & Girls Bowling Team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
