PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING EUGENA “GINA” FOUNTAIN FOR HER LEADERSHIP, COMMITMENT, DEDICATION, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE NORTH LAWNDALE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, Chicago’s own Eugena “Gina” Fountain, born to Shirley Fountain and Eugene Gaines, is the current co-owner and CEO of one the oldest Hot Dog restaurants in the city of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Dave’s Red Hots opened in 1938 in the North Lawndale and serves as a staple go to restaurant in the community with lines forming outside of the door; and
WHEREAS, Gina has been working in her family’s restaurant since she was fifteen, helping her parents and learning what it takes to be a small restaurant and owner in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Under Gina’s leadership and with the support of her family and local community Dave’s Red Hots has not only survived to be the oldest running Hot Dog restaurant in Chicago but serves as an enduring example of what can be accomplished with hard work, dedication and focus beyond the bottom line; and
WHEREAS, one of Gina’s secrets is her gift of focus and ability to be present everyday with her customers. You will find Gina at the restaurant turning the keys herself every morning at opening and being the last person to leave every night. Gina’s amazing smile, signature laughter and polite and engaging demeanor let guests know they are going to be well taken care and serve some of the best local food in Chicago from a genuine local Chicagoan.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Dennis Deer Cook County Commissioner 2nd District along with President Toni Preckwinkle and the entire Board of Commissioners does hereby recognizing and congratulate Eugena “GINA” Fountain for her leadership, commitment, dedication, and being a business owner in the North Lawndale Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this resolution be tendered to Ms. Eugena “Gina” Fountain and a suitable copy be spread upon the official proceedings of this honorable body recognizing this au pious occasion.
