PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE OF DEIRDRE MARIE CLAYTON
For this cause, pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render, therefore, to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
Romans 13:6-7
WHEREAS, Deirdre Marie Clayton was a breath of fresh air and a beaming light of sunshine to all who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre was a fun-loving person who loved life and was always full of joy; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre had many hobbies throughout her life such as playing the piano, being a girl scout, singing, reading, traveling, and enjoying Broadway musicals; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre was a foodie in her own right and loved authentic foods of all kinds; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre attended Elementary and High School in Washington D.C. with Math being her strongest subject; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications with a minor in public relations at Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale; and
WHEREAS, in January 1971, Deirdre became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Chi Chapter; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre was a natural born leader and held multiple positions as director; and
WHEREAS, in September 1978, Deirdre's loving spirit led her to marry her best friend and love of her life Charles Clayton, where Clayton Jr. and Christina were born from their union; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre's dedication to helping others led her to 24 years of service at Provident Hospital of Cook County as an associate administrator of public affairs; and
WHEREAS, during Deirdre's long career at Providence Hospital, she was affectionately known as Dee Clayton; Momma Dee, or Dee; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre considered Provident Hospital of Cook County and many Commissioners to be her second family, thereby combining her two families by ensuring her children-Charles Jr. and Christina-were involved in her job by having t...
