WHEREAS, in 1919, the William McKinley American Legion Post 231 began its service to both local veterans and the surrounding community, and

WHEREAS, in its early days, the William McKinley American Legion Post 231 was known for its great camaraderie and a welcoming environment where members of all generations could gather in fellowship, and

WHEREAS, today the Wm. McKinley American Legion Post 231 is a thriving, vibrant organization, looked upon as a widely respected community asset, and beneficiaries of its charitable support include many families in need throughout the community, and

WHEREAS throughout its proud history, the William McKinley American Legion Post 231 has held among its ranks numerous community leaders that have been active in improving the lives of veterans and the lives of residents in the community, and

WHEREAS the Wm. McKinley American Legion Post 231 is proud of its many friends and members who have served our country in the armed forces, with members having fought in World War I, World War II, Korea, Viet Nam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan, and

WHEREAS on Sunday, October 20, 2019, the Wm. McKinley American Legion Post 231 will host a celebration at Banquets at the Mayor's Mansion, A European Chalet to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of the Post, now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, that the Board does hereby extend its congratulations to all the members, past and present, of the Wm. McKinley American Legion Post 231, for 100 years of outstanding service to the community, and offers its best wishes for continued success, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and a ceremonial copy of same be presented to the members of the Wm. McKinley American Legion Post 231 as a token of appreciation fr...
