Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE HONORABLE EDWARD H. MARSALEK WHEREAS, the Honorable Edward H. Marsalek, 98 years old, died on September 4, 2022. Judge Marsalek was born in Chicago on July 22, 1924 to a family of five siblings; and WHEREAS, Ed was a proud graduate of Prescott Elementary School, Lane Tech High School, University of Houston, Wright Junior College and John Marshall Law School; and WHEREAS, Ed served as a Marine in the South Pacific, Jasco Division, during World War II; and WHEREAS, Ed married the love of his life, Ann (Pollace) in 1960. Together they raised their three children - Diann, a Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County, Carolyn, and Edward; and WHEREAS, Ed began his career as an Assistant Attorney General, before working for the Illinois Toll Highway Authority. HONORING THE LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE HONORABLE EDWARD H. MARSALEK

WHEREAS, the Honorable Edward H. Marsalek, 98 years old, died on September 4, 2022. Judge Marsalek was born in Chicago on July 22, 1924 to a family of five siblings; and

WHEREAS, Ed was a proud graduate of Prescott Elementary School, Lane Tech High School, University of Houston, Wright Junior College and John Marshall Law School; and

WHEREAS, Ed served as a Marine in the South Pacific, Jasco Division, during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Ed married the love of his life, Ann (Pollace) in 1960. Together they raised their three children - Diann, a Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County, Carolyn, and Edward; and

WHEREAS, Ed began his career as an Assistant Attorney General, before working for the Illinois Toll Highway Authority. Ed was a partner at Marsalek and Lusak, a private practice firm. Edward became a Judge in 1976, where he was assigned to the Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations and First Municipal, retiring in 1999 as the Supervising Judge in Housing Court; and

WHEREAS, Ed loved to give back to the community. He was active in the 44th Ward Democratic organization serving as an officer and committed volunteer, both to the ward organization and to his marine and other civic groups; and

WHEREAS, during his retirement, Judge Marsalek traveled to many places in the United States and Poland. He loved spending time at his summer home in Wisconsin with family and friends. He enjoyed taking the pontoon boat out for rides on the lake. He loved his companion, Frank, a German Shepherd, who was always by his side. A sports enthusiast, he loved watching or listening to Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears games; and

WHEREAS, Judge Marsalek enjoyed celebrating holidays, birthdays and events with his family. He was a devoted grandfather to his grandsons and a loving uncle and great uncle to many. He had a strong love for family and will be greatly missed; and
