HONORING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF RONALD RUSSELL

WHEREAS, Ronald Russell was called home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Russell was born in Chicago, Illinois, to James and Pearline Russell, on January 13, 1959; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Russell earned his Bachelors of Arts, from the College of Education at Southern Illinois University, at Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Russell led a successful career in roles such as Administrator with the HUD Housing Program, Administrator of a Child Welfare Agency, Finance Manager at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Senior Vice President of Primerica Financial Services, and Business Partner of the Illinois South Suburban Entertainment Project; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Russell was active in the community serving as People's Chair for AFSCME Local 1776, Master Mason of North Star Lodge #1, Royal Arch Mason Oriental #21, Sublime Prince of the Secret Western Consistory #28, a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church Men's Group, and Facilitator for the United Negro College Fund, and Breast Cancer Survivors at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Russell was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated where he was initiated at Southern Illinois University, at Carbondale, through the Beta Eta Chapter, in 1978. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated is the first intercollegiate and oldest Greek-letter fraternity for African-American Men founded on December 4, 1906, at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York; and

WHEREAS, for more than 35 years, Ronald Russell fraternal service included serving as a Chapter President, Beta Eta Chapter Step Master, and the General and Midwest Regional Sergeant-at-Arms. Ronald was inducted to the Beta Eta Chapter Hall of Fame in 2019; and
