PROPOSED RESOLUTION
REMEMBERING AND HONORING THE LIFE OF ROSS STEWART NORDSTROM
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom called from our midst Ross Stewart Nordstrom on Sunday, August 31, 2020 at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, Ross was born in Princeton, IL on June 14, 1929, to Iva Mae nee Stewart and Arthur Edwin Nordstrom; and
WHEREAS, Ross was a longtime resident of Chicago Heights, IL in the South Suburbs of Cook County and was affectionately referred to as “Mr. Chicago Heights”; and
WHEREAS, Ross was a graduate of Bloom High School Class of 1947, and would go on to study Electrical Engineering at Chicago Technical College; and
WHEREAS, Ross served honorable in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran; and
WHEREAS, Ross was the retired proprietor of Royale Amusement; and
WHEREAS, Ross attended and supported San Rocco Oratory, the Marchegiana Society of Chicago Heights, Amaseno Lodge #3, the Mount Carmel Men’s Dinner Club, and was a longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and honorary member of the Catholic War Veterans Post #1060; and
WHEREAS, Ross enjoyed golfing with his “Watermelon Golf Club” buddies and the local casinos where he and his wife of sixty-six years, Annette, made many friends and enjoyed the cuisine at their steakhouses; and
WHEREAS, Ross was considered a bottom-line mechanical genius with his natural ability to repair anything; and
WHEREAS, Ross was loved and highly respected by all those who were blessed to know him; and
WHEREAS, Ross was the beloved husband for 66 years of Annette, loving father of Dennis (Renee) Nordstrom, Sharon (late Sam) Cipkar, Lynette (Mark) Nykaza and Christopher (Lorena) Nordstrom; Cherished grandfather of Evan Stuart (Stacey) Nordstrom, Max Anthony Nordstrom, Ryan Ross Cipkar, Gabriel Paul (Jill) Cipkar, Anneli Hoffman, Kenneth Ross Hoffman, Cody Hoffman, Lucas Nordstrom and Trevor Nordstrom; Great grandfather of William and Thaddeus Nordstrom; Brother of the late Robert (late Ruth) Nordstrom; Uncle to many nieces and nephews;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby offer its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of Ross Stewart Nordstrom; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and that a suitable copy be presented to the family of Ross Stewart Nordstrom so that his memory may be so honored and ever cherished.
