WHEREAS, Kate Hall is the Executive Director of the Northbrook Public Library and the 2021 recipient of the Illinois Library Association (ILA) Librarian of the Year Award; and

WHEREAS, the Librarian of the Year Award recognizes the distinguished leadership and service in Illinois libraries, and honors the local, statewide, and national impacts these unique institutions have made; and

WHEREAS, Kate Hall is known as a well-respected leader with a true passion for her work and the people libraries serve; and

WHEREAS, Kate Hall's commitment to mentorship and coaching lead to creating many training initiatives to ensure future librarian's success, and to co-authoring "The Public Library Director's Toolkit" in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Kate Hall managed to continue to serve the Northbrook community with the best possible library service while navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that the highest safety protocols were maintained to keep library staff and patrons safe all while willingly sharing her plans and procedures with anyone who requested them; and
